Like virtually everyone else following the development of contemporary electronic music, we were pleasantly surprised when Visions of Darkness in Iranian Contemporary Music slid across our desk in the summer of 2017, which was our first experience with the increasingly important work of Italy’s Unexplained Sounds Group.
This small imprint appears earnestly dedicated to becoming something of a Cryo Chamber equivalent for the experimental electronic genre, utilizing digital means as a focus with a limited approach to physical offerings to elevate the current state of quality in the post-industrial underground.
The inherent importance of the label is born from their willingness to ensure that experimental artists from the least represented corners of this planet are given a spotlight.
The latest manifestation of that effort is African Music Survey: Anthology of Contemporary Music from Africa Continent, featuring the work of FRKTL, Eryck Abecassis, In_o, Nur, Victor Gama, and more.
There is no underground more buried than that which is hidden in scarcely represented geography, so we encourage you to support this effort.
