The hallmark of an innately talented artist is the ability to continuously challenge themselves by pushing their sound in new directions.Terence Hannum is known for his work in Locrian, but his newest project, The Holy Circle, a collaboration with Erica Burgner-Hannum (vocals) and Nathan Jurgenson (drums) is a beast of a different nature. Where Locrian inhabited the world of black metal and drone, The Holy Circle supplies an intoxicating din reminiscent of early 90s shoegaze classics and early 4AD material, while relying on electronics rather than the usual guitars.
Their much-anticipated debut album is out now from the redoubtable Annihilvs Power Electronix, and we’re proud to be able to offer you a look at the new video from the eponymous release, for the track “Paris”.
The video is directed by Danielle Damico, who describes it thusly: “The video for “Paris” is an exploration of temporary euphoria. Erica Burgner-Hannum and I discussed the song and how it is a sort of a prelude to a tragedy. It’s about living in moments of bliss and wanting to suspend time when ultimately life is progressing and with life comes all the unknown possibilities of the future.”
Here it is, for your listening and viewing enjoyment
