Svart Records have recently announced the September 7th release of Hexvessel‘s upcoming full-length No Holier Temple, and to celebrate the occasion, we are proud to share with you an exclusive stream of a new song from that album entitled “A Letter in Birch Bark”. “A Letter in Birch Bark” is a divinely performed down-tempo doom-folk composition that conceals, within its haunting reveries, folkloristic lyrics with bewitching vibraphone, fervent accordion and guitar as well as a lingering presence of distinct psychedelia that sends a nod to the likes of Espers and The Courage of Others era Midlake.
Regarding the album as a whole, front-man and founder Mat McNerney had this to say: “The songs were written specifically to be channeled by a group. This is the sound of a cult, all focused on summoning the same magic, joined in prayer, haunted by the same demons. We actively pushed for a new way to evolve our sound. I purposely strove to make this album a calculated move-on from Dawnbearer. This isn’t about using symbols of the occult. This is about a way of living that returns the old gods to their rightful place. We’re a family that worships nature through word and sound. We hope you will join us.”
And through experiencing “A Letter in Birch Bark” here, join them you shall.
